Brighton Icebergers - wind & swell at swims

Our site ozswims.co records sea temperatures automatically from a swimmer's smartwatch, but it also takes manual recordings of the temperature, swell, clarity and the rough number of jellyfish spotted during a swim. One of our diligent manual recorders goes by the alias name of Boogie. Boogie has taken 193 manual recordings over the last 2 years using a small digital temperature device.
We combined Boogie's swell recordings with the wind direction to average the swell by wind direction. Plus we used the same swim time data to average wind speed and gusts by direction. Boogie's recordings are nearly always very early morning. We have used the wind readings from the BOM around these swim times, hence we use the term, 'at swim times'.
Here is the same chart including swim time data for 330 swims at Brighton.

These readings are very helpful as we have used them to help adjust our swell predictions at this location. Our swell estimations are now being added to our swim records, along with tide information.
Note: With more data recordings we can improve the accuracy of these graphs. Any of our swimmers can take a manual recording with a small aquarium digital thermometer. This costs $15 with a battery, contact me to provide one. Happy Swimming
